A review of the gas and liquid phase interactions in low-temperature plasma jets used for biomedical applications

Youssef Morabit et al.

Summary: Atmospheric pressure plasma jets generated using noble gases have been intensely studied for over 2 decades due to their unique physicochemical properties and their suitability for treating living tissues. The interaction between molecular gases and noble gas plasma creates reactive oxygen and nitrogen species (RONS) which ultimately dictate the chemical composition of the RONS arriving at a biological target.

Characterization of a kHz sinusoidal Argon plasma jet impinging on water using Thomson scattering and fast imaging

Summary: The study investigated the electron dynamics in an Argon plasma jet interacting with a liquid surface under AC excitation, revealing differences in discharge behavior between grounded and floating liquid states. The discharge process was divided into pre-, main-, and post-breakdown phases, with electron density and temperature affected by the grounding status of the liquid.
