Discrepancies in global vitamin C recommendations: a review of RDA criteria and underlying health perspectives

Anitra C. Carr et al.

Summary: There are significant discrepancies in global recommendations for daily vitamin C intake, with factors such as gender, age, pregnancy, lactation, and smoking being debated among regulatory authorities. Despite the looming global obesity pandemic, body weight as a significant predictor of vitamin C status and requirement has not been considered in dietary recommendations.

The Association between Vitamin D Status and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): A Systematic Review and Meta-Analysis

Zuqun Wang et al.

Summary: The association between vitamin D status and autism spectrum disorder (ASD) has been well-investigated, with lower vitamin D levels being associated with higher risk of ASD. Moreover, decreased early-life vitamin D concentration in children with ASD and higher likelihood of developing ASD in children with reduced maternal or neonatal vitamin D were observed in prospective studies. This highlights the importance of detecting and intervening in vitamin D deficiency in ASD patients, pregnant, and lactating women for clinical and public health significance.

Vitamin B3 levels in women who experience first-trimester miscarriage

Nurul A. Yakob et al.

Summary: Niacin intake and urinary vitamin B3 measurements did not predict miscarriage in early pregnancy, but differences in 2-pyr/MNA ratios between women who miscarried and controls suggest a potential protective threshold level of niacin for miscarriage prevention.
