Meaningful change in 6-minute walk in people with peripheral artery disease

Mary M. McDermott et al.

Summary: Among people with PAD, improvements of approximately 8 and 20 meters in the 6-minute walk distance represent small and large improvements in walking ability, respectively. People with PAD who reported no change in their ability to walk distances over 1 year simultaneously declined by a mean of 7 meters in the 6-minute walk test.

Higher habitual flavonoid intakes are associated with a lower risk of peripheral artery disease hospitalizations

Nicola P. Bondonno et al.

Summary: The study aimed to examine the association between flavonoid intake and PAD hospitalizations and found that higher total flavonoid intake was significantly associated with a lower risk of PAD as well as other peripheral vascular diseases. The association differed according to baseline smoking status, alcohol intake, BMI, and diabetes status. Ensuring adequate consumption of flavonoid-rich foods may be a key strategy to lower the risk of PAD.

ROS-responsive capsules engineered from EGCG-Zinc networks improve therapeutic angiogenesis in mouse limb ischemia

Zuoguan Chen et al.

Summary: The study developed a zinc-based metal-EGCG capsule, which was shown to significantly promote angiogenesis, improve the microenvironment, and reduce toxicity. In vitro and in vivo experiments demonstrated that EGCG/Zn Ps exhibited antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and cell migration-inducing effects.

Dietary Fruit and Vegetable Supplementation Suppresses Diet-Induced Atherosclerosis in LDL Receptor Knockout Mice

Weimin Guo et al.

Summary: The research findings indicate that consuming a large quantity and variety of fruits and vegetables causally attenuates diet-induced atherosclerosis and hepatic steatosis in mice. These effects are associated with, and may be mediated through, improved atherogenic dyslipidemia, alleviated gut dysbiosis, and suppressed inflammation.

Resveratrol Alleviates Vascular Endothelial Damage Caused by Lower-Extremity Ischemia Reperfusion (I/R) through Regulating Keap1/Nrf2 Signaling-Mediated Oxidative Stress

Xiaojun Song et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Resveratrol may alleviate vascular endothelial injury induced by lower-extremity I/R through regulating Keap1/Nrf2 signaling-mediated oxidative stress, resulting in increased cell viability, decreased apoptotic rate, and reduced oxidative stress.

Network Meta-Analysis Comparing the Outcomes of Treatments for Intermittent Claudication Tested in Randomized Controlled Trials

Shivshankar Thanigaimani et al.

Summary: The translated text summarizes the findings of a network meta-analysis on different treatments for intermittent claudication, indicating that supervised exercise therapy and the combination of ER+SET are effective in improving maximum walking distance in the moderate term, while the long-term efficacy remains inconclusive. Further research on durable treatments for intermittent claudication is needed.

Effects of quercetin on exercise performance, physical activity and blood supply in a novel model of sustained hind-limb ischaemia

J. Phie et al.

Summary: The study found that quercetin did not improve exercise performance, physical activity, or limb blood supply in mice with sustained hind-limb ischaemia, suggesting that it is unlikely to be an effective treatment for PAD.
