Use of lipid parameters to identify apparently healthy men at high risk of arterial stiffness progression

Yu Sang et al.

Summary: The study identified serum TG and TG/HDL-C as independent predictors of arterial stiffness progression in healthy men, showing better performance than other lipid variables. Adding these measures to age and blood pressure improved risk predictions for arterial stiffness progression.

Dietary patterns and biomarkers of oxidative stress and inflammation: A systematic review of observational and intervention studies

Krasimira Aleksandrova et al.

Summary: This review of observational studies and intervention trials in the past five years found that plant-based dietary patterns, such as the Mediterranean and DASH diet, were associated with lower levels of oxidative stress and inflammation. On the other hand, western and fast food diets were positively associated with higher levels of oxidative stress and inflammation. Further large-scale intervention trials are needed to confirm these findings.
