Estimation of heavy and light rare earth elements of coal by intelligent methods

S. Chehreh Chelgani et al.

Summary: This study investigated the relationship between coal properties and rare earth elements, and utilized a new feature selection method to improve prediction performance. Results showed that specific coal subsets were effective for predicting HREE and LREE concentrations, and a boosted neural network model significantly reduced errors in prediction. The study suggested that this approach could be a potential tool for predicting complex problems in energy and fuel areas.

A case study on energy and exergy analyses for an industrial-scale vertical roller mill assisted grinding in cement plant

Vahab Ghalandari et al.

Summary: This study conducted energy and exergy analyses on an industrial-scale vertical roller mill in Iran, showing higher efficiency compared to ball milling. Increasing classifier rotor speed decreased product particle size but increased power consumption. Comparisons with other mill units revealed the VRM consumed more energy than the best available technologies.

Modeling metallurgical responses of coal Tri-Flo separators by a novel BNN: a Conscious-Lab development

Mehdi Alidokht et al.

Summary: The introduction of boosted-neural network BNN and Conscious Laboratory (CL) concept offers an effective way to assess the impact of tri-flo cyclone operating parameters on metallurgical responses in coal processing sector. This approach reduces the number of experiments, lowers costs, saves time, and enhances understanding of the system, ultimately leading to improved processes and knowledge in energy and coal processing industries.
