Ultra-large omnidirectional photonic band gaps in one-dimensional ternary photonic crystals composed of plasma, dielectric and hyperbolic metamaterial

Feng Wu et al.

Summary: By periodically introducing plasma layers into a one-dimensional photonic crystal, researchers have successfully broadened the photonic band gap, achieving an ultra-large omnidirectional photonic band gap width of up to 1321 nm. This simple structure could be utilized to design ultra-broadband optical mirrors and narrowband optical filters with ultra-large omnidirectional stopbands.

Electrostatic waves in photonic hypercrystals

Afshin Moradi

Summary: Photonic hypercrystals, combining the properties of photonic crystals and hyperbolic metamaterials, can support the propagation of quasielectrostatic waves. This study investigates the dispersion relation, transmittance, and reflectance behaviors of electrostatic waves in one-dimensional photonic hypercrystals with metallic nanowire-based structures of two different periods. The findings are potentially valuable for understanding the electrodynamics of photonic hypercrystals.

Complete redshift photonic bandgap and dual-wavelength polarization selection in periodic multilayer structure containing hyperbolic metamaterial

Feng Wu et al.

Summary: According to the Bragg interference mechanism, photonic bandgaps in traditional multilayer structures show a blueshift as the incident angle increases, while a PBG designed within a hyperbolic metamaterial under TM polarization exhibits a complete redshift, enabling efficient polarization selection within a wide angle range.
