Effect of thermal treatment of SiC nanowhiskers on rheological, hydration, mechanical and microstructure properties of Portland cement pastes

Nagilla Huerb de Azevedo et al.

Summary: The study demonstrates that the addition of thermally treated SiC nanowhiskers can accelerate the hydration of cement and significantly enhance the compressive and flexural strength of cement composites. The addition of 0.50wt% of 500 degrees C SiC nanowhiskers has a significant effect on improving the performance of cement composites.

Effect of the combined use of carbon nanotubes (CNT) and metakaolin on the properties of cementitious matrices

Jose da Silva Andrade Neto et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the effects of combining CNTs and metakaolin on the properties of cementitious matrices. The results showed that the addition of CNTs and metakaolin increased the viscosity and plastic viscosity of the cementitious matrices, while reducing the flowability of mortars. The addition of CNTs improved the physicomechanical properties in mortars without metakaolin, but degraded the mechanical performance in pastes with metakaolin.

The Importance of Structural Factors for the Electrochemical Performance of Graphene/Carbon Nanotube/Melamine Powders towards the Catalytic Activity of Oxygen Reduction Reaction

Piotr Kamedulski et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the carbonization process of carbon composites consisting of graphene, multi-walled carbon nanotubes, and melamine, and explores the influence of structural factors on their electrochemical performance and catalytic activity. The study contributes to the design of novel hybrid carbon composites and suggests that modifications and porous structure play crucial roles in tailoring their electrochemical properties. Additionally, HRTEM and Raman spectra study are effective in evaluating the quality of the obtained hybrid materials.

Paulo R. de Matos et al.

Summary: This study investigated the use of ceramic tile demolition waste (CTDW) as a partial replacement for Portland cement in construction materials. Results showed that CTDW incorporation improved cement hydration kinetics and increased compressive strength, with better performance compared to limestone. There was no significant pozzolanic reaction by CTDW observed within 7 days.
