Fluoride Ion Release Characteristics of Fluoride-Containing Varnishes-An In Vitro Study

Summary: Despite advances in orthodontic treatment, white spot lesions remain common with fixed appliance therapy. Fluoride-containing products are effective in preventing white spots. This study found significant differences in fluoride release among tested varnishes, with Bifluorid 12 showing superior results. Manufacturers' claim of once or twice yearly application is not supported by the findings.

Release and Recharge of Fluoride Ions from Acrylic Resin Modified with Bioactive Glass

Summary: By adding bioactive glass materials to PMMA dental resin, the material properties were improved with bioactive fluoride ion release lasting for over 4 weeks. The resin modified with Fritex glass demonstrated the ability to absorb fluoride ions from toothpaste solution and effectively release them. The addition of fluoride-releasing fillers had minimal effect on the sorption and solubility increase of the modified PMMA resin.
