Harmonizing child mortality data at disparate geographic levels

Neal Marquez et al.

Summary: There is a growing focus on reducing health outcome inequalities in developing countries, particularly at the subnational level. This study presents a new method for analyzing masked survey data and critiques existing approaches. Simulation results show that the proposed method outperforms previous approaches in terms of reducing error and increasing estimation precision, and this is further supported by comparing child mortality data from the Dominican Republic. Leveraging various types of data to accurately estimate child mortality and health outcomes can improve the implementation of precision public health initiatives and enhance our understanding of geographic health inequalities.
