Structure based design, synthesis, and biological evaluation of imidazole derivatives

Drashti G. Daraji et al.

Summary: In this study, a series of new imidazole derivatives were synthesized and tested for their antibacterial activity. The 12l compound showed high potency against various bacterial strains including ESBL, VRE, and MRSA. Through ADME studies and molecular docking research, it was found that these synthetic compounds have good drug-likeness properties and promising binding modes with the protein.

Potential antiviral and anticancer effect of imidazoles and bridgehead imidazoles generated by HPV-Induced cervical carcinomas via reactivating the P53/ pRb pathway and inhibition of CA IX

Aisha Y. Hassan et al.

Summary: A novel solvent-free synthesis protocol was developed for the production of new imidazoles and bridgehead imidazoles targeting HPV E6 and E7 oncoproteins, showing promising anti-viral and anti-cancer activities in vitro. The compounds exhibited significant down-regulation of E6 and E7 oncoproteins, leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis induction in cervical cancer cells. Additionally, the most cytotoxic compound demonstrated potent inhibition of the carbonic anhydrase IX enzyme, positioning it as a potential drug candidate.
