Direct binding of ESCRT protein Chm7 to phosphatidic acid-rich membranes at nuclear envelope herniations

David J. Thaller et al.

Summary: It was found that the yeast nuclear envelope-specific ESCRT protein Chm7 has the ability to bind phosphatidic acid, which is essential for maintaining the integrity of the nuclear membrane. Chm7 is recruited to the nuclear envelope by interacting with membranes rich in phosphatidic acid, and plays a crucial role during defective nuclear pore complex assembly.

Summary: This study reveals the molecular architecture of plant TSET complex and identifies the crucial roles of specific subunits in complex assembly and membrane interaction. The structural differences between the hexameric TSET in Dictyostelium and the octameric TPC in plants are highlighted, advancing the understanding of the endocytosis process.
