Circadian disturbances, sleep difficulties and the COVID-19 pandemic

Mohammad Ali Salehinejad et al.

Summary: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought extraordinary and unpredictable changes to our lifestyle, negatively affecting core aspects of wellbeing including behavior, emotion, cognition, and social interactions. Sleep difficulties and circadian misalignment are common consequences of the pandemic, requiring interventions for different populations.

Evolutionary conservations, changes of circadian rhythms and their effect on circadian disturbances and therapeutic approaches

Denise Palm et al.

Summary: The circadian rhythm is vital for the interaction of organisms with their environments, disruptions in this rhythm can lead to neuropsychiatric disorders, and its mechanism is conserved among different species with misalignment causing evolution regression and lifespan reduction. This review focuses on the conserved mechanism of the internal clock, interspecies differences, effects of circadian rhythm disturbances, especially in ADHD, and discusses therapeutic approaches using recombinant proteins and CRISPR/Cas9 technology.
