Activating transcription factor 3 is a potential target and a new biomarker for the prognosis of atherosclerosis

Weiwei Qin et al.

Summary: ATF3, associated with inflammation and immunity, plays a role in atherosclerosis. Studies show lower ATF3 levels in ruptured atherosclerotic plaques, correlating with plaque stability. KEGG analysis suggests involvement of the PI3K-AKT pathway in formation of ruptured plaques. Experimental results indicate that ATF3 absence and increased macrophages may pose a risk for rupture.
