Impaired θ-γ Coupling Indicates Inhibitory Dysfunction and Seizure Risk in aDravet SyndromeMouse Model

Nico A. Jansen et al.

Summary: The study found that cortical theta-gamma coupling was reduced in both male and female juvenile DS mice, and persisted only if spontaneous seizures occurred. The coupling was partly restored by cannabidiol (CBD). Locally disrupting Na(V)1.1 expression also yielded early attenuation of coupling.

Double-Binding Botulinum Molecule with Reduced Muscle Paralysis: Evaluation in In Vitro and In Vivo Models of Migraine

Anna P. Andreou et al.

Summary: Migraine, with a prevalence of 15%, is the most common and disabling neurological disorder. Current oral medications have variable effects and intolerable side effects, leading to dissatisfaction. Injectable therapeutics provide a new treatment paradigm for chronic migraine but are effective in only around 50% of subjects.

Antidromic Spike Propagation and Dissimilar Expression of P2X, 5-HT, and TRPV1 Channels in Peripheral vs. Central Sensory Axons in Meninges

Oleg Gafurov et al.

Summary: The study revealed significant antidromic propagation of spontaneous spikes in meningeal nerves, which was weaker than orthodromic nociceptive traffic. There were differences in the expression of ATP, serotonin, and capsaicin receptors in different parts of the meningeal nerves. Disconnection of nerve from trigeminal ganglion reduced the tonic antidromic activity.
