The newly discovered genus and species of Sinonothochrysa zhangi Huang and Nel represent the oldest known taxon in China, marking the first formal description of fossil insects from the Buxin Formation in the Sanshui Basin.
Sinonothochrysa zhangi Huang and Nel gen. et sp. nov., a new genus and species of nothochrysine lacewing, are described and illustrated from the Palaeocene Buxin Formation, Sanshui Basina, Foshan City, Guangdong Province, South China. The new taxon is the oldest described representative and first reports this subfamily in China. It is also the first formally described fossil insects from the Buxin Formation of the Sanshui Basin.
