Secrecy Outage Analysis of Two-Hop Decode-and-Forward Mixed RF/UWOC Systems

Summary: In this paper, the secrecy performance of a two-hop mixed RF/UWOC system using a DF relay is analyzed. The RF and UWOC links are modeled using the alpha-mu and exponential-generalized Gamma distributions, respectively. The expressions of a lower bound of secrecy outage probability are derived and asymptotic expressions in simple functions at high signal-to-noise ratio are obtained. Based on these asymptotic expressions, a suboptimal transmit power can be numerically determined for various RF and UWOC channel conditions. Monte Carlo simulations are performed to validate all analyses.
