This study derived an improved frequency formula for immediate frequency estimation of a damped nonlinear oscillator and compared the analytical solution with a numerical solution, showing high accuracy in the estimated frequency.
Immediate frequency estimation of a damped nonlinear oscillator is very much needed in engineering. A developed He's frequency formula is derived to cover the damping nonlinear oscillator in the current work. The frequency due to the odd nonlinear damping force's presence is established immediately after converting the nonlinear oscillator to a linear damping model based on the conservative restoring force. A frequency of the non-conservative system is performed. The analytical solution is compared with a numerical solution that shows the high accuracy of the estimated frequency.
