Comparison of silicate impregnation methods to reinforce Chinese fir wood

Ping Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that Chinese fir wood reinforced by the RIM method has the best impregnation effect, strengthening effect, and dimensional stability. Compared to Chinese fir wood reinforced by VPIM, RIM-reinforced wood has lower heat release rate and smoke production rate, higher thermal decomposition temperature and residual rate.

Micro/nano-structural evolution in spruce wood during soda pulping

Ahmed Wagih et al.

Summary: This study aimed to investigate the interplay between the topochemistry of alkaline pulping and the associated morphological changes in partially soda-delignified wood chips. X-ray tomography and compositional characterization revealed a more delignified microstructure at the surface compared to the central parts of the treated chips, highlighting the dependence of the delignification process on mass transport through the wood tissue.
