Temporal-Perturbation Aware Reliability Sensitivity Measurement for Adaptive Cloud Service Selection

Lei Wang et al.

Summary: Benefiting from the pay-as-you-go business model, cloud-based software applications are becoming more popular. A composite cloud system can be constructed by integrating existing component cloud services available over the internet. In this article, a perturbation-aware approach is proposed for measuring the reliability sensitivity of component cloud services and ensuring the reliability of the cloud system.

Proactive Fault-Tolerance Technique to Enhance Reliability of Cloud Service in Cloud Federation Environment

Benay Kumar Ray et al.

Summary: Cloud federation enables cloud service providers to share and outsource resources, thus increasing the reliability and availability of cloud services. This article proposes a proactive fault tolerance system based on CPU temperature to preempt faults within the federation. The system is modeled as a multi-objective optimization problem to optimize resource redistribution, and a preference-based fault management algorithm is proposed. Experimental results show that the proposed mechanism provides an optimized solution in the presence of faulty CSPs.

Uncertainty-Aware Online Scheduling for Real-Time Workflows in Cloud Service Environment

Huangke Chen et al.

Summary: This study focuses on improving the performance of cloud service platforms by minimizing uncertainty propagation in scheduling workflow applications. A novel scheduling architecture is designed to control the count of waiting tasks on service instances, and an uncertainty-aware Online Scheduling Algorithm (ROSA) is developed to schedule dynamic and multiple workflows with deadlines. Comparative simulation experiments show that ROSA outperforms five typical algorithms in terms of costs, deviation, resource utilization, and fairness.
