Recent developments of doped g-C3N4 photocatalysts for the degradation of organic pollutants

Xiaolu Liu et al.

Summary: Graphitic carbon nitride (g-C3N4) has high thermal stability and a moderate band gap, but its performance is limited by issues like insufficient absorption of visible light. Element doping is an effective strategy to enhance its photocatalytic properties and improve performance.

Bismuth oxychloride-based materials for the removal of organic pollutants in wastewater

Ling Yao et al.

Summary: Different forms of organic compounds are toxic and harmful, leading to issues like eutrophication and odorous water. Photocatalysis is seen as a promising technology to degrade these pollutants into non-toxic inorganic materials under visible light. Bismuth oxychloride (BiOCl) is a potential photocatalyst, but its wide band gap limits its performance. Various methods to enhance its photocatalytic activity have been reviewed, along with the application and future prospects of BiOCl in pollution management.

Biochar catalyzed dechlorination-Which biochar properties matter?

Jing Ai et al.

Summary: The study found that bone and shrimp-based biochars showed the highest catalytic activity for TCE reduction, while graphite and activated carbon showed no reactivity. Multivariate regression analysis indicated that the catalytic activity of biochar is controlled by multiple properties, including surface area, TCE sorption, abundance of C-O groups, and pore size.
