Scaling the Steep Learning Curve of Total Hip Replacement Surgery

Summary: This study aimed to evaluate the complications of the Zurich total hip replacement system in initial cases performed by a single surgeon. The results showed a high rate of successful outcomes and low incidence of major complications, indicating that using this system is feasible for surgeons with prior experience with other total hip replacement systems.

Summary: The study aimed to evaluate trainees' surgical performance by analyzing operative times and postoperative radiographs, investigating the influence of supervision and assistant grade, and tracking changes in trainees' performance over a 6-month period. While postoperative radiographs and operative times are not effective indicators of the learning curve in primary hip arthroplasty, they may be helpful in assessing the performance of orthopaedic trainees.
