Sustainable, superhydrophobic membranes based on bacterial cellulose for gravity-driven oil/water separation

Summary: Plant cellulose needle-leaf bleached kraft pulp (NBKP) was added to bacterial cellulose (BC) to create a superhydrophobic/superoleophilic membrane for oil/water separation, exhibiting excellent separation efficiency, recyclability, and durability. The membrane remained durably hydrophobic after multiple cycles and is expected to be highly energy-efficient.

Mechanism of CeO2 synthesized by thermal decomposition of Ce-MOF and its performance of benzene catalytic combustion

Summary: This study investigated the formation mechanism and catalytic combustion performance of mesoporous CeO2 synthesized by thermal decomposition of Ce-MOF, as well as the structure-activity relationship between them. It was found that CeO2 (400) exhibited the highest specific surface area and pore volume, with excellent catalytic activity for benzene degradation, while Pt/CeO2 (400) showed high durability and water resistance during benzene combustion.

A Universal Strategy for the Preparation of Dual Superlyophobic Surfaces in Oil-Water Systems

Summary: A universal strategy was proposed to prepare dual superlyophobic surfaces in oil-water systems by delicately controlling surface chemistry, achieving the transformation from UWSOB to UOSHB. The mass ratios of superhydrophobic counterparts in the resulting mixed coatings were determined to be 0.3, 0.4, and 0.2 for APT, TiO2, and loess, respectively. The prepared superlyophobic separation mesh showed significant application potential in oil-water separation and other interfacial chemistry applications.

Summary: In this study, spindle-shaped Ce-TCPPs were successfully assembled by a rapid microwave-assisted hydrothermal method, and converted to a novel CeO2/N-doped carbon/Ce-TCPP nano-composite with significantly enhanced photocatalytic activation ability. The optimized sample thermal treated at 450 degrees C showed efficient removal of organic pollutants.

Fabrication and characterization of polysulfone and polyethersulfone membranes applied in the treatment of fish skin tanning effluent

Summary: This study focused on fabricating polymeric membranes from the phase inversion technique for the treatment of fish skin dye tanning effluent. The membranes showed anisotropic characteristics and the addition of polyethersulfone (PES) increased hydrophilicity and porosity. Design of a decellularized fish skin as a biological scaffold for skin tissue regeneration

Summary: Decellularized fish skin scaffolds designed by hypertonic & hypotonic technique and Triton X100 solutions showed the best results for skin regeneration. The samples had similar properties to human skin and were non-toxic with minimal genetic materials. Epithelial cells demonstrated good adhesion on the decellularized matrix, indicating its suitability for skin tissue regeneration.
