Nobody Will Tell You. You've Got to Ask!: An Examination of Patient-provider Communication Needs and Preferences among Black and White Women with Early-stage Breast Cancer

Janeane N. Anderson et al.

Summary: Patient-provider communication is a critical aspect of healthcare for breast cancer patients, with both Black and White survivors expressing a need for personalized information, emotional support, and rapid responses to inquiries. Black women were less likely to feel their informational needs were met compared to White women, with differences also observed in interaction quality and privacy concerns related to technology use. Both groups expressed a desire for improved communication with providers through technology and patient advocates.
