Palmatine-loaded electrospun poly(ε-caprolactone)/gelatin nanofibrous scaffolds accelerate wound healing and inhibit hypertrophic scar formation in a rabbit ear model

Zhimin Jiang et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that palmatine-loaded electrospun nanofibrous scaffold could accelerate wound healing and inhibit hypertrophic scar formation effectively. Both in vitro and in vivo experiments confirmed the significant inhibitory effect of PCL/GE/PAL scaffold on hypertrophic scar formation, showing promising potential for wound healing and scar prevention.

Molecular Changes Underlying Hypertrophic Scarring Following Burns Involve Specific Deregulations at All Wound Healing Stages (Inflammation, Proliferation and Maturation)

Matus Coma et al.

Summary: This review highlights the molecular features of fibroblasts and their interactions with immune and epithelial cells, as well as extracellular matrix, shedding light on the complexity of connective tissue accumulation and hypertrophic scarring. The comparison of different types of fibroblasts and their roles in skin repair and regeneration post-burn injury provides insights into the underlying mechanisms of tissue healing. Overall, the study presents a comprehensive overview of the molecular changes associated with hypertrophic scarring following burns, encompassing all stages of wound healing.

Dysregulated healing responses in diabetic wounds occur in the early stages postinjury

Kiara Boodhoo et al.

Summary: This study showed that chronic wounds in obese diabetic individuals have delayed healing processes and dysregulated protein expression compared to acute wounds. Early intervention in the healing process may be crucial for effective outcomes.

Lactobacillus rhamnosus CGMCC 1.3724 (LPR) Improves Skin Wound Healing and Reduces Scar Formation in Mice

Camila Francisco Moreira et al.

Summary: The study showed that oral treatment with Lactobacillus rhamnosus accelerates skin wound closure, reduces scar formation, alleviates inflammation and fibrogenesis, and improves angiogenesis in wounded skin.

International study to develop the WOUND-Q patient-reported outcome measure for all types of chronic wounds

Anne F. Klassen et al.

Summary: The WOUND-Q is a patient-reported outcome measurement tool for chronic wounds, developed through patient interviews and expert input on wound characteristics, quality of life, care experience, and wound treatment. The tool has been translated into Danish and Dutch and validated through an international field-test study, demonstrating reliability and validity in measuring outcomes from the perspective of patients with any type of wound.

A toolkit for the quantitative evaluation of chronic wounds evolution for early detection of non-healing wounds

Marta Cullell-Dalmau et al.

Summary: This study presents a methodology for analyzing the relationship between wound area and time to predict the evolution of non-healing wounds early. The two-step approach allows for quantification of wound area and classification of healing with high sensitivity even with limited data. This provides an early assessment of treatment efficacy and could assist clinicians in timely adjusting therapy.

Self-assembled elastin-like polypeptide fusion protein coacervates as competitive inhibitors of advanced glycation end-products enhance diabetic wound healing

Hwan June Kang et al.

Summary: The combination of AGEs and RAGE triggers pro-inflammatory signals that inhibit the proliferative phase of skin wound healing. A new coacervate system has been developed to reverse AGE-mediated changes, accelerate diabetic wound healing, and provide a potential therapeutic approach.

Skin Wound-Healing Potential of Polysaccharides from Medicinal Mushroom Auricularia auricula-judae (Bull.)

Sariya Mapoung et al.

Summary: Auricularia auricula-judae, a nutrient-rich mushroom used in traditional medicine, has been found to promote wound healing through a water-soluble polysaccharide-rich extract (AAP). AAP showed antioxidant activity, increased fibroblast and keratinocyte proliferation, migration, and collagen synthesis while decreasing E-cadherin expression. In a mice skin wound-healing model, AAP significantly accelerated wound closure on days 9 and 12. Overall, AAP's wound healing activities can potentially be applied in wound management products.
