Synthesis of highly fluorescent carbon dots as a dual-excitation rationmetric fluorescent probe for the fast detection of chlorogenic acid

Qingshi Liu et al.

Summary: Nitrogen and sulfur co-doped carbon dots (N,S-CDs) with enhanced photoluminescence were obtained by hydrothermal reactions using citric acid/sulfamic acid and PEI as precursors. The aggregated N,S-CDs solution with good water solubility and fluorescence stability showed potential for constructing a dualexcitation ratiometric fluorescent probe.

Ratiometric fluorescence resonance energy transfer aptasensor for highly sensitive and selective detection of Acinetobacter baumannii bacteria in urine sample using carbon dots as optical nanoprobes

Delnia Bahari et al.

Summary: A ratiometric fluorescent apta-sensor was developed for sensitive and selective detection of Acinetobacter baumannii (Ab) bacteria in biological samples, based on fluorescence resonance energy transfer (FRET) between ortho-phenylenediamines carbon dot (o-CD), nitrogen-doped carbon nanodots (NCND) as donor's species, and graphene oxide (GO) as acceptor. The sensor showed a wide range of fluorescence intensity ratio variation with the change in bacterial concentration and a low detection limit, demonstrating its feasibility for selective detection of A. baumannii in urine samples.

A sensitive off-on carbon dots-Ag nanoparticles fluorescent probe for cysteamine detection via the inner filter effect

Xiaowei Mu et al.

Summary: A fluorescent probe based on the combination of carbon dots and silver nanoparticles was developed for sensitive and selective detection of cysteamine. The probe showed a detection range of 2-16 μM with a detection limit of 0.35 μM, and high recovery rates in spiked bovine serum samples. Additionally, the probe had low cytotoxicity and was successfully used for in vivo imaging of HepG2 cells.

Sustainable synthesis of carbon quantum dots from banana peel waste using hydrothermal process for in vivo bioimaging

Raji Atchudan et al.

Summary: This study reported a sustainable synthesis of carbon quantum dots (CQDs) from banana peel waste by a simple hydrothermal method. The resulting CQDs have a narrow size distribution, exhibit intense blue fluorescence, and have high photostability, making them suitable for bioimaging applications.
