Aggregation behavior of a model carbocyanine dye: Polar organic solvent versus ionic liquid mixture

Summary: This study conducted a detailed comparative investigation on the aggregation behavior of a cyanine dye in mixed ionic liquids and common organic solvents, revealing the formation of different aggregates under different conditions. The results could contribute to technological applications requiring different forms of a dye molecule and enhance the potential applications of ionic liquids. The study provides a better understanding of the behavior of carbocyanine dyes in ionic liquid based media and different organic solvents based media.
