Modelling daily soil temperature by hydro-meteorological data at different depths using a novel data-intelligence model: deep echo state network model

Meysam Alizamir et al.

Summary: Soil temperature is crucial for plant growth, and research worldwide has been focused on understanding the relationship between soil temperature and climatic factors. The Deep ESN model has shown superior performance in forecasting soil temperature compared to conventional machine learning methods, with a significant reduction in RMSE accuracy. The Deep ESN model can be successfully applied for soil temperature modeling based on meteorological parameters.

Correlation Wavelet Analysis for Linkage between Winter Precipitation and Three Oceanic Sources in Iran

Atefe Ebrahimi et al.

Summary: This study aims to explore the possible relationships between winter precipitation in Iran and three oceanic sources using correlation wavelet analysis, finding that the 8-16 month period from the South Pacific Ocean has a significant impact on most precipitation zones in Iran, while the North Atlantic Ocean shows dominant periods of 4-8 and 16-32 months for some precipitation zones, and the Indian Ocean does not exhibit a significant causal relationship.

Detecting seasonal transient correlations between populations of the West Nile Virus vector Culex sp. and temperatures with wavelet coherence analysis

Petros Damos et al.

Summary: This study used correlations and wavelet analysis techniques to analyze the relationship between Culex sp. mosquito abundance and weather variables in Northern Greece. The results showed a high positive correlation between temperature and mosquito abundance, while rain and wind speed had poor correlations. Temperature was found to be a significant factor affecting mosquito populations, and oscillations in mosquito occurrences were observed at the beginning and end of the season. Wavelet analysis provided insights into the time-resolved oscillation structure of mosquito data and revealed a non-stationary association with temperature.

Suspended sediment load prediction based on soft computing models and Black Widow Optimization Algorithm using an enhanced gamma test

Fatemeh Panahi et al.

Summary: This study focused on predicting the suspended sediment load (SSL) for the Telar River's main tributaries in Iran using ANFIS-BWOA and SVM-BWOA models. The research found that ANFIS-BWOA performed the best in terms of MAE and R-2 values in the training level for the Telar River, and also showed advantages in predicting the SSL for the Kasilian River in the testing level. The study also highlighted the importance of input uncertainty compared to parameter uncertainty in the accuracy of the models.

A robust integrated Bayesian multi-model uncertainty estimation framework (IBMUEF) for quantifying the uncertainty of hybrid meta-heuristic in global horizontal irradiation predictions

Akram Seifi et al.

Summary: Accurate and stable prediction of global horizontal irradiation (GHI) is crucial for managing energy systems and decision making for future investment. This study aims to implement an ensemble strategy based on the Integrated Bayesian Multi-model Uncertainty Estimation Framework (IBMUEF) for quantification of uncertainty in artificial intelligence (AI). Evaluation results in two climate areas demonstrate the superiority of the ensemble IBMUEF over individual models in predicting GHI.
