Entanglement between distant macroscopic mechanical and spin systems

Rodrigo A. Thomas et al.

Summary: The study successfully achieved entanglement between a millimeter-sized mechanical membrane oscillator and a collective atomic spin oscillator, demonstrating an Einstein-Podolsky-Rosen variance below the separability limit. Overcoming the disparity of hybrid systems and the vulnerability of quantum correlations allowed for the generation of macroscopic hybrid entanglement.

Constraints on the Coupling between Axionlike Dark Matter and Photons Using an Antiproton Superconducting Tuned Detection Circuit in a Cryogenic Penning Trap

Jack A. Devlin et al.

Summary: The study constrained the coupling between axionlike particles (ALPs) and photons using a superconducting resonant detection circuit, setting limits in a mass and coupling range not constrained by astrophysical observations. This approach has the potential to provide broad limits in the low ALP mass range and can be extended to other Penning-trap experiments.

A quantum enhanced search for dark matter axions

K. M. Backes et al.

Summary: The study uses vacuum squeezing technology to overcome the quantum noise limit and did not find evidence of dark matter axions within a specific mass range, demonstrating the potential of noise reduction techniques in fundamental physics searches.

Searching for Dark Matter with a Superconducting Qubit

Akash Dixit et al.

Summary: A novel microwave photon counting technique has been developed and a new exclusion limit on hidden photon dark matter has been proposed. By repeatedly making quantum nondemolition measurements of cavity photons with a superconducting qubit and applying hidden Markov model analysis, noise has been reduced to 15.7 dB below the quantum limit, enhancing sensitivity to the dark matter signal.

Search for Low-Mass Axion Dark Matter with ABRACADABRA-10 cm

Chiara P. Salemi et al.

Summary: This study investigated the hypothesis that axions constitute dark matter and set 95% upper limits on the axion-photon coupling down to the world-leading level. The work opens a direct path for future experiments to confirm or exclude the hypothesis that dark matter is a QCD axion in the mass range motivated by string theory and grand unified theories.
