A scanning tunneling microscope capable of electron spin resonance and pump-probe spectroscopy at mK temperature and in vector magnetic field

Werner M. J. van Weerdenburg et al.

Summary: Researchers have successfully demonstrated the operation of ESR and pump-probe spectroscopy in an ultra-high vacuum STM at mK temperatures, enabling the detection of spin dynamics at the atomic scale. By implementing GHz compatible cabling, they achieved significant RF amplitudes for ESR measurements on individual molecules, and measured the spin relaxation time T-1 of individual Fe atoms.
