New Detonating Compositions from Ammonium Dinitramide

Marc Comet et al.

Summary: This article introduces a new family of detonating compositions using ammonium dinitramide as an explosive oxidizer and red phosphorus or titanium hydride as fuels. These compositions have high explosion heats, detonation velocities, and run to detonation distances, insensitive to electrostatic discharge but sensitive to impact and friction, and can efficiently initiate the detonation of high explosives. They are seen as green substitutes for primary explosives containing heavy metals.
