Dose effect of exogenous abscisic acid on controlling lignification of postharvest kiwifruit (Actinidia chinensis cv. hongyang)

Mijing Jin et al.

Summary: Different concentrations of ABA have different effects on lignification in fruit, with higher concentrations increasing the activity of enzymes crucial for lignin synthesis and upregulating gene expression, while lower concentrations alleviate black patch symptoms and increase lignin content in the peel without negatively affecting fruit quality. Microscope observations showed that lower concentration of ABA can decrease the number of lignin cells in the pulp, reducing the chance of lignification.
