Summary: This study demonstrates the involvement of calcium (Ca2+) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S) in regulating ion homeostasis and antioxidant defense in Vigna radiata seedlings under potassium-deficient NaCl stress conditions. Short-term NaCl stress led to an increase in Ca2+ and H2S levels, improving antioxidant system, while long-term stress resulted in decreased K+ content, reduced antioxidant system, and membrane damage. Supplementation of seedling roots with Ca2+ enhanced H2S biosynthesis and contributed to maintaining redox homeostasis and membrane integrity.
