Tunable transport properties in graphene-DNA and silicene-DNA by controlling the thickness of nanopores

S. Mohammadi et al.

Summary: This paper investigates the electrical transport of two-terminal trilayer graphene and silicene flakes with the absence and presence of nanopores and DNA molecules. It shows that the passage of DNA molecules through nanopores significantly changes the transport properties, leading to metal-semiconductor quantum phase transition and increased energy gap. The transport properties of DNA strands passing through nanopores depend on various factors such as the thickness of nanopores, leads and electrode locations. Additionally, there is a reduction in electron transmission for both types of nanopores which may be useful for developing DNA sequencing devices.

Goos-Hanchen shift in silicene

Honghua Ma et al.

Summary: This study investigates the Goos-Hanchen shift of silicene in different phases and finds a large negative spatial GH shift in metal phases and a positive shift in nonmetallic states. The angular GH shift varies rapidly near the pseudo-Brewster angle, allowing manipulation of the GH effect by controlling external circularly polarized light electric field or magnetic field. These results are believed to be helpful for developing novel optoelectronic devices based on the GH effect of silicene.
