Knockdown of specific cuticular proteins analogous to peritrophin 3 genes disrupt larval and ovarian development inBactrocera dorsalis(Diptera: Tephritidae)

Qiu-Li Hou et al.

Summary: Cuticular proteins (CPs) are crucial for insect development and defense, with CPAP3 genes playing important roles in the pupariation of Bactrocera dorsalis. Hormone treatments and RNA interference experiments showed that these genes are involved in regulating development and mortality in the pest. The study highlights the potential of CP genes as targets for pest control via RNAi.
