Smoking cessation in head and neck cancer patients: Factors influencing successes and failures

Summary: This study examined the barriers and facilitators to tobacco use and cessation among persons living with HIV in southern Brazil. Findings showed motivations for smoking include anxiety relief, social influence, and habitual behaviors, while motivations to quit included bad smell/taste and consequences/symptoms. Participants preferred individual or group interventions, no-cost pharmacologic aids, and assured confidentiality for tobacco cessation services.
