Survey of perceptions and educational needs of primary care providers regarding management of patients with class II and III obesity in Ontario, Canada

Boris Zevin et al.

Summary: Primary care providers in Southeastern Ontario lack sufficient knowledge and experience in managing patients with class II and III obesity, leading to under-referral for medical and surgical weight loss interventions. Many PCPs are hesitant to refer patients for bariatric surgery and lack comfort in providing long-term follow-up care. There is a clear need for additional education and professional development in this area to improve patient care outcomes.

Grandparental dietary provision, feeding practices and feeding styles when caring for preschool-aged grandchildren: A systematic mixed methods review

Colette Marr et al.

Summary: The study reveals that grandparents often serve large portion sizes and encourage frequent eating among their grandchildren. They provide a mix of foods, including discretionary items high in sugar and fat, and sometimes expensive core foods like berries as treats. While some grandparents implement feeding practices that promote healthy eating, others may resort to coercive feeding practices and indulgent feeding styles.
