Green synthesis, antimicrobial, antibiofilm and antitumor activities of superparamagnetic γ-Fe2O3 NPs and their molecular docking study with cell wall mannoproteins and peptidoglycan

Mohammad Azam Ansari et al.

Summary: In this study, fatty acids-assisted superparamagnetic maghemite nanoparticles were biologically synthesized using extract of polyherbal drug Liv52. The nanoparticles were characterized by various techniques and were found to contain saturated and unsaturated fatty acids as well as aromatic phenol compounds. The nanoparticles exhibited antimicrobial, antibiofilm, and anticancer activities, and molecular docking studies suggested efficient interaction with cell wall components. The magnetic properties of the nanoparticles could potentially enhance their biological activity when combined with external magnetic fields or other therapeutic drugs.
