Strength characterization and lifetime prediction of dental ceramic materials

Summary: The Weibull modulus and characteristic strength of three dental ceramic materials in water were determined. The results showed that the polycrystalline yttria-stabilized zirconia had the highest Weibull modulus and strength, while glass ceramic materials had lower values. The subcritical crack growth parameters for the materials in water were also different, with a significant decrease in strength observed over time.
