A local circadian clock for memory?

Andrew B. Lehr et al.

Summary: Recent data suggests the existence of a circadian clock in the hippocampus that may act independently in learning and memory. This clock appears to be influenced by the master clock and hippocampal-dependent learning, but can also revert to its endogenous circadian rhythm under certain conditions.

Crucial role for CA2 inputs in the sequential organization of CA1 time cells supporting memory

Summary: The study demonstrates that spatial and temporal coding in dCA1 is largely segregated with respect to the dCA2-dCA1 circuit, suggesting that CA2 plays a critical role in representing the flow of time in memory within the hippocampal network.
