Uncertainties remain regarding the pathophysiology of COVID-19, variations in clinical presentations, and the phenomenon of long haulers. Currently, there are no highly effective drugs for treating COVID-19, with trials of hydroxychloroquine proving unsuccessful. Remdesivir has shown some success in aiding recovery of severely ill patients, but does not reduce mortality like dexamethasone. However, vaccine development has seen substantial advancements, with several vaccines being approved for use globally.
