Dynamical Generation of Spin Squeezing in Ultracold Dipolar Molecules

Thomas Bilitewski et al.

Summary: In this study, a bulk fermionic dipolar molecular gas confined in a two-dimensional geometry in the quantum degenerate regime is examined. By utilizing two rotational states of the molecules, a spin 1/2 degree of freedom is encoded. A long-range interacting XXZ model is derived to describe the many-body spin dynamics of the molecules, leading to robust dynamics and generation of entanglement despite the presence of finite temperature, dephasing, and chemical reactions. The system behaves close to the collective limit, providing insights on implementing time reversal and enhanced metrological sensing protocols through the internal state structure.

Observation of microwave shielding of ultracold molecules

Loic Anderegg et al.

Summary: This study demonstrates the use of microwave radiation to engineer and control interaction potentials between ultracold calcium monofluoride molecules, resulting in an effective repulsive shield that suppresses inelastic loss rate by a factor of six. The findings provide a general route for creating long-lived, dense samples of ultracold polar molecules and implementing evaporative cooling techniques.

Anisotropic thermalization of dilute dipolar gases

Reuben R. W. Wang et al.

Summary: The study focuses on collisional rethermalization in ultracold dipolar thermal gases, providing theoretical methods that are easily applied in experimental contexts. It is shown that collisional rethermalization is fully characterized by the dipole magnitude and orientation, scattering length, and thermalization geometry, especially under short-time dynamics-driven thermal equilibrium paths. The models compare favorably to Monte Carlo simulations and successfully model recent experimental results on the rethermalization of polar molecular samples.
