Is supernova SN 2020faa an iPTF14hls look-alike?

S. Yang et al.

Summary: The observations of SN 2020faa show great similarity to the behavior of iPTF14hls during the first 6 months, allowing for a forecasting of the former and reflection on the less well observed early evolution of the latter.

A tidal disruption event coincident with a high-energy neutrino

Robert Stein et al.

Summary: Researchers have found a possible association between a radio-emitting tidal disruption event and a high-energy neutrino, suggesting that such events may contribute to the cosmic neutrino flux. Electromagnetic observations using a multizone model have revealed mechanisms that could lead to the production of petaelectronvolt neutrinos.

On the energy of the protons producing the very high-energy astrophysical neutrinos

Esteban Roulet et al.

Summary: This study investigates the distribution of proton energy required to produce astrophysical neutrinos with a given observed energy, considering both pp and p gamma interactions. The results are sensitive to the proton spectrum and target photon spectrum, and are relevant for understanding the relationship between characteristics of the neutrino spectrum and the corresponding cosmic rays. Additionally, the study discusses the associated production of gamma rays at the sources.

IceCube-Gen2: the window to the extreme Universe

M. G. Aartsen et al.

Summary: The observation of electromagnetic radiation provides valuable information about the Universe, but at the highest energies, cosmic neutrinos are needed to explore extreme environments. IceCube-Gen2 is a next-generation instrument designed to enhance our understanding of high-energy processes in the Universe, ultimately advancing multi-messenger astronomy.

Modeling of Cosmic-Ray Production and Transport and Estimation of Gamma-Ray and Neutrino Emissions in Starburst Galaxies

Ji-Hoon Ha et al.

Summary: By modeling the production of cosmic-ray protons in starburst galaxies using the predictions of nonlinear diffusive shock acceleration theory, it was estimated that gamma-ray and neutrino emissions from nearby SBGs such as M82, NGC 253, and Arp 220 could be due to pp collisions. Current gamma-ray observations by Fermi-LAT, Veritas, and H.E.S.S. may not be sufficient to constrain CRP production and transport models. The study suggests that future observations of neutrinos and gamma-rays could provide constraints for the production and diffusion of CRPs in SBGs.
