Searching for light in the darkness: Bounds on ALP dark matter with the optical MUSE-faint survey

Summary: By using MUSE spectroscopic observations of the dwarf spheroidal galaxy Leo T, radiative decays of axion-like particles (ALPs) were searched for, resulting in constraints on the effective ALP-two-photon coupling in the mass range 2.7-5.3 eV. The study improves existing limits by more than one order of magnitude within this mass range.

Dine-Fischler-Srednicki-Zhitnitsky axion in the CMB

Summary: A dedicated analysis of cosmological constraints on DFSZ QCD axion models is performed for the first time, revealing that the axion mass is constrained to be less than or equal to 0.2 eV at 95% confidence level when the axion coupling to pions is maximal. However, constraints on the axion mass can be significantly relaxed when the coupling is small. Additionally, combining cosmological data with hints from experiments and stellar cooling, the mass of the axion in DFSZ-I and DFSZ-II models is found to be within the range of 0.07 eV to 1.8(0.3) eV.

Summary: This study recalibrated the extragalactic distance ladder and refined the determination of the Hubble constant using Hubble Space Telescope and Gaia EDR3 data. The results, based on Milky Way Cepheids observations and estimates, are in good agreement with conclusions based on earlier Gaia data releases.
