Matter accretion in metal-poor stars down to extremely metal-poor stars and the lithium problem

M. Deal et al.

Summary: This study focuses on the observed abundances in metal-poor stars, particularly CEMP-s stars, and explores the impact of accretion of companion star winds on element abundances, including lithium. The results show that observations of lithium dispersion associated with carbon enrichment can be explained by accretion of smaller masses of winds from stellar companions onto metal-poor stars. The derived primordial value is consistent with cosmological results.

The role of faint population III supernovae in forming CEMP stars in ultra-faint dwarf galaxies

Myoungwon Jeon et al.

Summary: The majority of CEMP-no stars in observed UFDs and the MW halo can be explained by Pop III SNe with normal explosion energy and Pop II enrichment, but faint SNe might also be needed to produce CEMP-no stars with higher carbon abundance. Despite efforts to create CEMP-no stars with high carbon ratios, it remains challenging to reproduce those with extreme levels of carbon abundance observed in the MW halo and UFDs.

Dynamical evolution of population III stellar systems and the resulting binary statistics

Boyuan Liu et al.

Summary: In this study, N-body simulations were used to study the dynamical evolution of population III stellar systems and resulting binary statistics. The research found that binary properties were highly sensitive to initial conditions, with significantly lower efficiencies for the formation of Pop III XRBs than previously thought, making their contribution to the cosmic X-ray background negligible. Additionally, the efficiency of Pop III BBH mergers was estimated, with the need for three-body hardening by surrounding stars or close binary interactions to facilitate in-spirals of BBHs.

Grids of stellar models with rotation - V. Models from 1.7 to 120 M⊙ at zero metallicity

Laura J. Murphy et al.

Summary: Understanding the evolution of the first stars is crucial for understanding the early universe, with rotation playing a significant role in affecting core size, H-burning shells, and metal enrichment. Rotation can lead to critical rotation and mass loss in massive stars, and can impact metal enrichment through effects on CNO boosts during He-burning. This new grid of Population III models provides valuable insights into the complex interactions between rotation and stellar evolution.

Wind-envelope interaction as the origin of the slow cyclic brightness variations of luminous blue variables

L. Grassitelli et al.

Summary: This study explores the impact of stellar wind mass-loss on envelope structure in massive stars near the Eddington limit, suggesting that when the wind mass-loss rate crosses a certain threshold, it leads to restructuring of the stellar envelope and induces drastic radius and temperature changes. The resulting cycle lacks a stationary equilibrium configuration and broadly reproduces the observational phenomenology of S Doradus variability.

Ultra-faint dwarf galaxies: unveiling the minimum mass of the first stars

Martina Rossi et al.

Summary: The lack of zero-metallicity stars in ultra-faint dwarf galaxies can be used to study the initial mass function of the first stars using statistical comparisons with chemical evolution models. By developing a model focusing on UFDs formation, researchers were able to identify constraints on the PopIII IMF including its shape and characteristic mass. The study shows that existing IMF sampling is crucial for predicting long-lived PopIII stars in UFDs with low star formation rates, and suggests that a top-heavy PopIII IMF is favored based on the data from Bootes I.

Two Populations of Carbon-enhanced Metal-poor Stars in the Disk System of the Milky Way

Sarah E. Dietz et al.

Summary: This study examines the chemodynamic characteristics of about 50,000 stars from the AAOmega Evolution of Galactic Structure survey, focusing on 650 carbon-enhanced metal-poor (CEMP) stars, and divides them into mildly prograde and strongly prograde populations, comparing them with similar populations in recent literature. The results suggest that the former may be associated with either the Gaia Sausage or Gaia-Enceladus, while the latter is linked to the metal-weak thick disk in the Milky Way.

Efficiently Cooled Stellar Wind Bubbles in Turbulent Clouds. I. Fractal Theory and Application to Star-forming Clouds

Lachlan Lancaster et al.

Summary: The text discusses the evolution of bubbles formed by collective winds from star clusters, focusing on their interaction with the surrounding interstellar medium. The fractal nature of the bubble's surface enhances energy losses, leading to maximally efficient radiation at temperatures of 10(4)-10(5) K. The theory explains the weak X-ray emissions and low shell expansion velocities observed in sources created by stellar winds.

Summary: The passage discusses the process of wave energy transport in core-collapse supernova progenitors, finding that waves excited during oxygen/neon burning stages can transmit substantial energy before core collapse. Different mass progenitors exhibit variations in wave energy transmission, with low-mass and high-mass progenitors showing distinct characteristics in transmitting wave energy.
