Detection of two bright radio bursts from magnetar SGR 1935+2154

F. Kirsten et al.

Summary: Fast radio bursts are bright radio signals emitted from extragalactic sources, with recent detections suggesting they may be emitted by magnetars at cosmological distances. Observations of multiple bursts from Galactic magnetar SGR 1935+2154 show a wide range in energy levels, raising questions about the underlying physical processes and the distribution of fast radio bursts at very low energies.

A peculiar hard X-ray counterpart of a Galactic fast radio burst

A. Ridnaia et al.

Summary: Fast radio bursts have unknown physical origins and are potentially linked to young, highly magnetized, isolated neutron stars known as magnetars. A recent hard X-ray event detected is found to be temporally coincident with a bright radio burst in the direction of the Galactic magnetar SGR 1935+2154, showing properties similar to FRBs. The rarity and hardness of the X-ray spectrum of this event compared to typical bursts from SGR 1935+2154 suggests a possible association between bright, FRB-like magnetar signals and hard X-ray bursts.

Reactivation of the High Magnetic Field Pulsar PSR J1846-0258 with Magnetar-like Bursts

Harsha Blumer et al.

Summary: In 2020, the high magnetic field pulsar PSR J1846-0258 experienced a reactivation after 14 years of quiescence, accompanied by short bursts, enhanced X-ray flux and spectral softening. The pulsar spectrum changed with the outburst, while the PWN spectrum remained consistent.

A Necessary Condition for Supernova Fallback Invading Newborn Neutron-star Magnetosphere

Yici Zhong et al.

Summary: The numerical investigation of supernova fallback accretion interacting with a relativistic wind from a newborn neutron star reveals critical conditions that determine the behavior of the accretion shock. By examining the parameters governing the proximity of fallback matter to the NS surface and the burial of the surface magnetic field, the study discusses the potential for differentiating NS evolution into rotation-powered pulsars, central compact objects, and magnetars.

The Life Cycle of Magnetars: A Novel Approach to Estimate Their Ages

Tushar Mondal

Summary: Anomalous X-ray pulsars and soft gamma repeaters are believed to be powered by ultrastrong magnetic fields associated with magnetars, but discoveries in specific cases have challenged traditional views. The rotational period of magnetars increases over time, affecting the obliquity angle between the magnetic and rotation axes, which influences age estimation for magnetars.

The New Magnetar SGR J1830-0645 in Outburst

F. Coti Zelati et al.

Summary: In October 2020, the detection of a new magnetar SGR J1830-0645 in outburst was heralded by Swift satellite, accompanied by a short hard X-ray burst and a bright soft X-ray source. The burst lasted 6 ms with an estimated dipolar magnetic field of 5.5 x 10(14) G at the pole and a characteristic age of 24 kyr.
