Isotope fractionation of micropollutants during large-volume extraction: heads-up from a critical method evaluation for atrazine, desethylatrazine and 2,6-dichlorobenzamide at low ng/L concentrations in groundwater

Aileen Melsbach et al.

Summary: This study evaluated the accuracy of isotope ratio measurements of frequently detected micropollutants after enrichment from large water volumes by solid-phase extraction and HPLC clean-up. Artefacts of isotope discrimination were found to depend on factors like organic matter content and extraction volume, highlighting the importance of a careful method evaluation before reliable CSIA.

A Multi-Elements Isotope Approach to Assess the Geographic Provenance of Manila Clams (Ruditapes philippinarum) via Recombining Appropriate Elements

Eun-Ji Won et al.

Summary: The increasing global consumption of seafood and trade among nations has highlighted the importance of authentication. This study examined the recombination conditions of multiple elements for geographically distinct classifications of clams. Linear discriminant analysis (LDA) with specific elements showed remarkable cluster distribution of clams, expanding the application of multi-element analyses for tracing origins of seafood.
