Protection against acute cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury by Leonuri Herba Total Alkali via modulation of BDNF-TrKB-PI3K/Akt signaling pathway in rats

Yan Li et al.

Summary: The study demonstrated that pre-administration of Leonuri Herba Total Alkali (LHA) could significantly reduce neurological deficits, infarct volume, serum levels of specific markers, and inflammatory cytokines in rats with cerebral ischemia reperfusion injury. Additionally, LHA pre-administration inhibited the expression of certain proteins associated with inflammation, while promoting the expression of neuroprotective proteins. The findings suggest that LHA may play a neuroprotective role through the regulation of the PI3K/Akt pathway.

MiR-27a-3p suppresses cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by targeting FOXO1

Wenyu Li et al.

Summary: The study found that miR-27a-3p can suppress cerebral ischemia-reperfusion injury by targeting FOXO1. In vitro experiments showed that OGD induced apoptosis and oxidative stress in HT22 cells, along with G1 arrest mediated by FOXO1/p27 Kip1 signaling. MiR-27a-3p mimics reversed these effects, and in vivo studies using a rat model also showed alleviation of CI/R symptoms with miR-27a-3p agomir treatment.

Interleukin-22 Plays a Protective Role by Regulating the JAK2-STAT3 Pathway to Improve Inflammation, Oxidative Stress, and Neuronal Apoptosis following Cerebral Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury

Yongfei Dong et al.

Summary: The study shows that IL-22 treatment can alleviate cerebral I/R injury by reducing infarct size, decreasing inflammatory cytokine expression, lowering oxidative stress and neuronal apoptosis, and increasing JAK2 and STAT3 phosphorylation levels.

Chlorpromazine and promethazine reduces Brain injury through RIP1-RIP3 regulated activation of NLRP3 inflammasome following ischemic stroke

Qian Jiang et al.

Summary: The study found that phenothiazine drugs induce hypothermia, which can exert anti-inflammatory effects by regulating NLRP3 inflammasome and reducing infarction and immune cell infiltration. These results suggest that C + P may be a potential treatment for ischemic stroke.
