Micro and Nanoplastics Identification: Classic Methods and Innovative Detection Techniques

Summary: Micro and nanoplastics, fragments smaller than a millimeter, have become a major environmental issue globally. Various identification methods are used in microplastic analyses, with microscopy being one of the most common techniques. Challenges exist in producing complete results for small particles, but combining microscopy with chemical analysis can overcome these limitations. Developing new analytical instruments and innovative microscopy techniques could improve the identification of micro and nanoplastics.
