This study successfully constructed a fluorescent chemosensor based on Q-1 probe, which can rapidly and accurately detect phosgene, and prepared test paper for detection of phosgene gas.
Phosgene (COCl2) is a kind of extreme poisonous and colorless gas, causing many serious health problems. It's an urgent requirement to develop a convenient and efficient analytical methods for detection of phosgene in environmental systems. In this work, we have constructed turn-off fluorescence signals of phosgene fluorescent chemosensor Q-1 based on quinoline as fluorophores and oxime as recognition group, which displayed a low detection limit (LOD = 5.55 & times; 10-6 M) and rapid response (<1 min). The structure of the probe Q-1 was analyzed by NMR and X-ray. Q-1 can be used to clearly distinguish phosgene under 365 nm UV lamp and visible light. Moreover, the test paper with Q-1 was prepared for detection of phosgene gas in air.
