This study conducted five plant trials with varying Ca-total/O-total ratios and different Al and S contents in steels to validate thermodynamic model predictions for the liquid window. The results showed good agreement between model predictions and experimental findings, with the window succinctly represented by the ratio of Ca in sulfide inclusions to Ca in oxide inclusions.
Five plant trials with high, medium, and low Ca-total/O-total ratios, as well as higher Al and S contents in steels were conducted to study the validity of thermodynamic model predictions for the liquid window-where inclusions are liquid after Ca-treatment. The window can be succinctly represented by the ratio of Ca in sulfide inclusions to Ca in oxide inclusions. There was good agreement between model predictions and experimental results.
